What is natural wine?
It is a wine made with minimal intervention in the vineyard and winery
Grape
Natural wine is made from organically grown grapes, without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides or preservatives. The grapes are harvested by hand to minimize damage to the berries
Yeast
While artificial yeasts are used in the production of conventional wines, fermentation of natural wine occurs only through the yeasts and bacteria that live on the skin of the grapes and in the air of the particular terroir where the grape grows
Character
Natural wines are not usually filtered because filtration can lead to loss of the unique character, flavor and aroma of the grape. Therefore, natural wines may be turbid and have sediment
No additives
Up to 100 different additives can be used in the production of ordinary wine. Natural wine is made without technological additives. Slight additions of sulfites are allowed, but more often they are not used at all
